A couple weeks ago, I met up with a fellow photographer, Jordan, to capture a beach shoot with the lovely model, Sarah. It was so much fun! A few weeks before the actual shoot, I created a bright and colorful beach day mood board. I, then, thought it would be even better to make it into a body positive shoot. So I reached out to curvy model, Sarah, to see if she liked the idea. She loved it and was on board to model for it! After reaching out to Sarah, I reached out to, Jordan, to see if she wanted to join in as another photographer, and capture the same idea. She was all for it! So jump forward to the day of the shoot...
It started off not good. I had completely forgot about spring break, La Jolla Cove, the original beach I wanted to shoot at was packed with people! And had absolutely no parking! Thank goodness I had arrived about 45 minutes before our meet up time, because I had enough time to drive around to find parking and scout out the other beach areas in La Jolla that were less packed. I ended up finding parking by the La Jolla Tide Pools. Which also happened to have far less people, so SCORE! Another not so good start to the shoot, was that it was gloomy. Cloudy and gray. The trusty - not so trust- weather app said, sunny, on the drive to the location. It was not sunny. But nonetheless, we continue on. When Sarah and Jordan arrived, Sarah went off to change into the first bathing suit (turquoise one piece), and Jordan helped me set up the blanket and props. With some luck, the sun came out for a few minutes! However, it quickly went back behind the clouds. Take note of the first 4 photos in the one piece bathing suit lighting. It's bright and colorful! Then take note at the remaining photos, including the ones with the two piece bathing suit, when the sun went away. Those photos are more moody. Which was totally fine... you make do with what you got! To which I did just that and captured some amazing photos! Plus, the beautiful purple flowers made up for the gloomy sky! Despite some obstacles, it was such a fun shoot! It was nice to finally meet Jordan, a fellow photographer, who I have been following for quite some time now. And to work with together on this shoot. She was a blast to work with, and to brain storm off of. As well as, learn different tips and trick from each other!
It was also nice to meet and work with Sarah, who I have also been following for quite some time! Sarah was so easy to work with! Such a fun and happy person. Her confidence and beauty shined brighter than the sun that day! I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do!
